Sleeping Gear

July 06, 2011

I've said in the past, that when possible, I like to leave as much as I can at home. That being said, when you are traveling with babies and/or toddlers that isn't necessarily the easiest thing to do. One of the most important things to have at your destination is a safe sleeping option for your child.

It's with that in mind that I have a check list for "sleeping gear" so that the bedtime routine can be kept relatively the same as it is at home:

  • Travel crib or travel playpen (my personal preference is one that is compact and lightweight and one that won't break if checked as luggage)
  • Bedding (many hotels will not provide blankets because of the dangers associated with SIDS, so many sure to take your own sleep bag and bedding for crib or playpen)
  • Night light for the room
  • Books for before bed
  • Favourite stuffed animal (if child is old enough to have one)
  • Favourite bedtime CD
  • Monitor if you are staying with friends or family

Happy Traveling!
