Exploring close to home

February 25, 2011

My family was recently reminded that we don't have to travel far to find exciting places to explore. We visited the Children's Museum at the Canadian Museum of Civilization.

What a family friendly place! i was impressed by the stroller check at coat check and that they will lend you a infant carrier if you need one. How many places do that??

Things got even better once inside. Connor and I had our passport booklet, although I admit, I was more focused on getting it stamped than he was-he was too excited by the bus at the start that he could sit in!! This was a favourite and we spent half of our time on it. Connor also enjoyed the "boat" and liked the fact that he could use the mop (I wonder if this trait will still be there in 10 years from now!)  and run down the ramp.

We had a fun lunch and watched an IMAX movie, Connor loved Animalopolis and all the animals. He was less enthused with Hubble Space Station 3D and instead had a nap, still a little young to understand the need for glasses, but a comfy spot for him to sleep.

We aren't giving up traveling to new places, but when we're home this is a spot we'll be at often.
